Dynamic Denver-based Indie Folk collective Gungor is a perfect example of why modern Americana doesn’t appear to be headed in the same faddish direction as, say, the Ska or Swing revivals of yesteryear.

Instead of swimming in clichés, being a caricature or trying to adhere to any sort of Roots music blueprint, as the group’s recent I Am Mountain album shows, Gungor writes strong, memorable songs that touch on Indie Rock, Post Rock, Prog, Soft Rock and beyond.

K.S. Rhoads and Lamps & Voids open Thursday’s all-ages concert.

7 p.m. $15 in advance; $18 at the door. Madison Theater, 730 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky., madisontheateronline.com.
