Two of Cincinnati’s finest and most recognized veteran Jazz musicians — pianist Charlie Wilson and vibraphonist King Reeves — play together at the Blue Wisp, the first time ever at that venue.
Even better, the show is free and relatively early to encourage those who work downtown to stay afterward and hear real Jazz.
Wilson, who has fantastic technique, played regularly with Don Cherry and Charlie Haden before they joined Ornette Coleman, and replaced Andrew Hill as the pianist for Roland Kirk. Reeves has played with Miles Davis and Sonny Stitt and led the band Blue Sapphire in the 1970s and 1980s.
The show starts with a set by vocalist April Aloisio and pianist Phillip Burkhead. 6-10 p.m. Free. The Blue Wisp, 700 Race St., Downtown, 513-241-9477, thebluewisp.com.
