Directors Rob Epstein (Academy Award-winning producer of the documentary features Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt and The Times of Harvey Milk) and Jeffrey Friedman (director of Common Threads) tackle one of the more controversial figures in film in this biopic examining the life of Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried).
Known as the star of Deep Throat, Lovelace endured much abuse from industry insiders and even her own husband Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard) before taking the reins of her own life. Her complex story — from porn star to staunch anti-pornography activist — pre-dates the current trend of the mainstreaming of pornography in popular culture. Now open at Esquire Theatre.
