Local resident Leah Stewart stops by the Mercantile Library’s Literary Lunch series this week to discuss her latest novel, The History of Us, a Cincinnati-set, sneakily addictive coming-of-age tale about a family thrown together via unfortunate circumstances.

Stewart, who is also a creative writing professor at the University of Cincinnati, uses this setup to investigate the peculiar pull the Queen City has on its citizens, a place where, as she writes in the book, “you could make a virtue of grittiness, take pride in not living in some cleaner, wealthier, wussier city.”

Noon.

Free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Lunch available for $8 with an advance request. The Mercantile Library, 414 Walnut St., Downtown, 513-621-0717, mercantilelibrary.com
