Yes, folks, guitar-and-drum duos still exist in Rock & Roll! In this case, it is the husband and wife team of guitarist and singer Sasha Alcott and drummer Chris Viner. Together, they make up the band When Particles Collide.

Hailing from Bangor, Maine, WPC spends its time “driving around the country with a Punk Rock attitude toward making things happen and a Prog Rock desire for precision and creativity,” according to its bio.

Back in the day, the mere idea of mixing Prog and Punk would make the New York Dolls of the world cringe. But Alcott and Viner are good-hearted folks with a sense of humor who make it work.

When Particles Collide have self-released three EPs and one album; the twosome’s latest EP, EGO, is due this month.

They play MOTR Pub Thursday with The Frankl Project. Free. motrpub.com.
