Screenwriter Bob Mahaffey pairs up with director Jonathon Kimble to tell the dramatic and magical tale of an underdog high school baseball team in 2005 that struggled during the regular season (winning six out of 23 games), but goes on an eight-game run to become the first high school team in the country to win a state championship after posting a losing record.
While the regional sports angle will attract moviegoers to Gibsonburg, Mahaffey and Kimble mix in a bit of romance to spice things up for audiences interested in more than just a run around the basepads. Now open at Mariemont Theatre. Not screened in time for review
