Todd Rundgren first got the attention of the wider music world when he released the syrupy-yet-addicting Soft Rock hit “Hello It’s Me” in 1972. However, to his credit, once achieving stardom, Rundgren did not sit still with his newfound Pop success.

Instead he cranked up the synthesizers and electric guitars and came forth with his Progressive Rock/Fusion band Utopia. And, as the years went by, he has often been way ahead of the curve when it’s come to the use of technology and video in the music world.

What a lot of people don’t remember is the many impressive albums that Rundgren has produced over the years.

Rundgren’s own latest album is called State and it brings the long-time innovator into the modern scene full bore, with energetic stabs at Electronica, Dub Step and Techno, with his unique vocals and multi-layered/multi-instrumental arsenal thrown up against the electronics to see what sticks.

Todd Rundgren performs 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 18 at Bogart's in Corryville. Tickets are $24. bogarts.com.
