Back in the 1970s, acoustic music began to expand and evolve. Bluegrass music morphed into many different genres, from Jamgrass and Newgrass to even more esoteric fare. One exciting new offshoot at the time was the “Jazzgrass” of the David Grisman Quintet.

These days, acoustic music has seen a resurgence under the umbrella genre of “New Acoustic,” ranging from the Chambergrass of groups like The Punch Brothers and the Celtic/Alt Folk of Mumford & Sons and Avett Brothers.

Currently, the group MilkDrive is reviving the jazzy grooves of the Grisman Quintet.

Billing themselves as a “contemporary Jazz-Grass band,” the outfit is made up of Noah Jeffries on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo, Brian Beken on fiddle, mandolin and guitar, Dennis Ludiker on mandolin and fiddle and Matt Mefford on double bass.

MilkDrive plays 9 p.m. Saturday at Stanley's Pub. $5.
