New Edgecliff Theatre takes a big step with its next production, which opens this week. Wrapping up its 15th season, NET is presenting an ambitious work, David Auburn’s Proof, the 2001 winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for best play.
A tale of family and genius and the fear of madness focuses on Catherine, a bright young woman whose has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable mathematician father.
After his death, she must come to terms with her estranged sister Claire and with Hal, an ambitious protégé of her dad who is attracted to her — even as she struggles with her own fear that she could inherit her father’s afflictions.
NET has moved from its home in a tiny church venue on Cincinnati’s East Side, presenting this show at the Aronoff’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater.
