Onstage: Apartment 3A

By Rick Pender · April 9th, 2013 · CityBeat Recommends

Actor Jeff Daniels (who’s done films ranging from Dumb and Dumber to The Squid and the Whale) has a theater company in Michigan and has authored 10 plays, including a 2006 script, Apartment 3A. It’s a gently romantic tale about Annie Wilson, a public TV employee who’s lost her faith in just about everything — including PBS. (She tells Sesame Street viewers that Big Bird will die if they don’t contribute.)

After her husband cheats on her, she moves to a new apartment.

Hanging onto her idealism by a thread, she navigates between a love-struck coworker and a new neighbor who warns her not to fall in love with him. This story about making choices between cynicism and faith in today’s world is being presented through April 27 by Untethered Theater Company at Clifton Performance Theatre.

$18 at the door; $15 in advance. 404 Ludlow Ave., Clifton, 513-939-0599, untetheredtheaterco.com.
