Marc Maron returns to Cincinnati this Thursday on his Out of the Garage Tour.
Instead of playing one of the area’s comedy clubs, he’ll perform at
Bogart’s, an unusual venue of sorts for the veteran comic, but not
totally foreign. “I’ve done a few Rock clubs,” Maron says from his home
in Los Angeles. “Some are tricky. We’ll see how it goes. It’s going to
be fun.” He doesn’t expect his show to be any different than it would be
at a comedy club.
“You’re still gonna get me, there are no
pyrotechnics. I don’t have a drum riser or anything.” Maron, of course,
is the host of the hugely popular podcast WTF with Marc Maron,
which receives more than 400,000 downloads a week, a show he started
from the ashes of the old Air America radio network. Unlike that gig,
Maron talks very little politics on his podcast, and he’s happier for
it. “I don’t miss it at all,” he says. “It’s a narrative you have to
keep up with. I became a little disillusioned. And it’s damaging to be
partisan as a stand-up without balancing it out and looking beyond the
politics.” $27.50. 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Bogart’s, 2621 Vine St., Corryville.
