Identity theft is a major issue in American (and global) society due, in part, to technological advances that make acquiring personal and financial data frustratingly simple, but director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) seeks to make light of the problem with Jason Bateman as a beleaguered everyman who hits the road to bring in the woman (Melissa McCarthy) who has stolen his identity and gone on a mad spree.
The pair end up as partners in crime and punishment, though, as they endeavor to stay one step ahead of thugs in hot pursuit. If only we could all just be buddies in real life. Now in theaters. (R) Not screened in time for review
