Ever fantasize about vacationing in the serene English hillside — some innocuous, stone-cobbled, history-filled patch built on tiny mom-and-pop businesses and pubs packed with working-class men who want nothing more than to enjoy pints and camaraderie at night?

If the answer is an affirmative, we're happy to introduce you to Skinny Lister, a vibrant, Punk-in-spirit Folk/String band that will appease those idyllic sensibilities.

Nowadays, the five-piece fronted by the husband-and-wife combo of Dan Heptinstall and Lorna Thomas is based out of the ultra-modernized London, but don't get it twisted: Skinny's members stem from all over the country, so there's a healthy chance someone has experienced something akin to the above scenario.

Its tunes draw from naked patriotism and a clear love for more traditional forms of music, like sea shanties (work songs recited on massive sea vessels) and Polka numbers.

The latter elements are especially unlikely to infiltrate a group who has been on Warped Tour and is releasing its debut record on Punk label SideOneDummy.

Even the title of Forge & Flagon, its aforementioned release, pays loving homage to a small pub owned by friends that's tucked away in rural Leicestershire. Nostalgia, local pride and romance all play vital roles in shaping its music and vibe.

If, after reading this, you're suddenly feeling the urge to compare fares on Expedia and Travelocity, wait a spell. A Skinny Lister performance could make quick, frugal gratification for your Anglophile soul.

SKINNY LISTER performs Sunday, Jan. 27 at Bogart's in Corryville with Flogging Molly and Dave Hause. Buy tickets, check out performance times and get venue details here.
