We at CityBeat are fully aware how tiring the
holiday season can be. In fact, it can be flat-out soul-sucking. Now, we
aren’t usually in favor of stereotypes, but they can be pretty nifty
when you’re making a holiday gift shopping list and checking it twice.
Our Jingle and Mingle Party celebrates our effort to de-stress holiday
shopping with the release of our 2012 Gift Guide, featuring creative,
thoughtful ideas for every type of person on your list: the DIYer, the
cozy homebody, the design geek, the music-lover, the man about town,
etc.
The Contemporary Arts Center will have its gift shop open all
evening; maybe you’ll find a trinket right around the corner. There will
also be an awkward family portrait-themed photo booth (is there any
other kind of family portrait?), cash bar and light fare followed by the
CAC’s scheduled 7 p.m. screening of Detropia, a moving
documentary about Detroit, a once-grand metropolis teetering on the
brink of collapse. Free. 5:30-8 p.m. Monday Dec. 10. Contemporary Arts Center, 44 E.
Sixth St., Downtown.
