It’s no longer the early 20th century; it’s here and now. Without changing the text, it’s being done in everyday clothing without New England references, so it feels like a contemporary piece about people and their lives. The story feels more immediate — a lot less moralistic, syrupy and sentimental. Another twist: Actress Tara Williams, definitely not an old guy, plays the matter-of-fact stage manager. A few changes can really freshen a familiar work — sort of like Our Town 2.0. It’s onstage through Sunday, Nov. 18. $20. Stained Glass Theatre, 802 York St., Newport, Ky. 859-652-3849, footlighters.org.
