Xavier University has reversed its controversial decision to not pay for employees’ birth control as part of healthcare plans after realizing that since announcing the end of the coverage July 1, the school has actually continued to cover birth control costs. CINCINNATI +2 

CNN posted an article exploring the merits of study from the University of Texas that purported evidence suggesting that women vote based on their menstrual cycles instead of rational thought or reason; after interweb outrage and criticism, CNN removed the article, admitting the story “did not meet the editorial standards of CNN.” WORLD -1 

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Lindsay Lohan offered this sage tweet of advice to her some 4.5 million followers: “WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i’m calling it Sally)..? Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace.” That makes everything better, (we’re calling you Linda..?).

A rural school district in California saved enough money from its switch to a solar power system to reinstate its music program, which was cut due to funding troubles back in 2009; the new system is expected to save the district $9 million over the next 25 years. WORLD +1
