Comedian Jamie Lissow went to law school — for two weeks. “I got my first paying gig,” he explains. “I got $50 to do five minutes. Up until then I had no idea you could paid for doing comedy. I thought it was a hobby.” He took a year off from law school, which then turned into two years. Fifteen years on, he’s a headliner and has also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as well as most of the other late night chat showsTonight Show,” he says. “I like that set and I’m happy with it, but I feel like I’m so different now. I’m much better doing an entire set [than a five minute TV spot].” On stage he talks mostly about his life and his experiences such as living in New York City before moving back to Rochester, N.Y., where he has a fulltime radio gig. “I lived in a studio apartment in New York City,” he says. “It was so expensive. I don’t know if everyone knows what a studio apartment is, but it’s where you live in one room and pretend it’s awesome.” Through Sunday, Oct. 14.. $8-$12.
