Sure, her sophomore album Esperanza scored tons of gushing reviews and led to her performing at the Nobel Peace Prize festivities in 2009, personally selected by one of that year’s award winners, President Obama. But in 2011, things really exploded for the talented young musician; that February, she won the Grammy for “Best New Artist,” the first Jazz performer to do so. The win did wonders for sales of her third album, Chamber Music Society, and a year later, she was singing “What A Wonderful World” at the Academy Awards over a montage of people who died the previous year. A month after that, her latest album, Radio Music Society, hit the streets to even wider acclaim.
