In Ohio, presidential candidates have beefed up on everyone’s favorite kind of television commercial: political ads. Between April and September 2008, Ohio political ads totaled 43,827; during that same period in 2012, that number has more than doubled: 114,840. CINCINNATI -1 

A cab driver recorded a conversation between Paris Hilton and a friend about a gay hook-up app, Grindr. The audio (surprise): “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS … I would be so scared if I was a gay guy. You’ll like, die of AIDS.” WORLD -2

Left-leaning voting coalition Voters First awarded Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted an “F” for his biased job performance this year, which included promoting discrimination by limiting weekend and early voting and wrongly firing dissenting employees.


Village Voice Media opted to sell its altweekly, New York’s Village Voice, along with 12 other affiliated publications in favor of keeping its classifieds ads website, which is criticized for hosting ads promoting sex trafficking and prostitution. WORLD -1 

Breaking: A news study conducted by The Union of Concerned Scientists combed through six months of Fox News broadcasting for mentions of “climate change” and “global warming” and then compared each to mainstream scientific understanding; 93 percent of Fox News’ claims were misleading or misrepresented.
