“All for one, one for all!” That’s the philosophy of the valiant central characters, defenders of King Louis XII of France in Alexander Dumas’ 1844 novel, and they’re brought to vibrant life for one final weekend onstage at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. It’s easy to tell the good guys from the bad guys in Ken Ludwig’s jokey adaptation: You always know who to root for, even when they’re a tad foolish, especially the young, impetuous D’Artagnan (whose rambunctious kid sister calls him “D’arty”).

His heart is big and his combat skills keep him slightly ahead of his enemies. The Playhouse’s spirited production, the first staged by new artistic director Blake Robison, is a perfect choice for the whole family — adventure, romance, laughs, surprises, tears — it’s the right kind of show to encourage budding theatergoers and satisfy veterans. $42-$75. Tuesday-Sunday. Through Sept. 29. Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, 962 Mount Adams Circle, Mount Adams. 513-421-3888, cincyplay.com.
