Spooky thrills creep up on a mother (Elizabeth Shue) and her daughter (Jennifer Lawrence) as they move into an all-too affordable house next to a horrific crime scene, where a young girl killed her parents.
To make matters worse, the daughter, as the new girl in town, ends up befriending the surviving son (Max Thieriot) and you just know that there will be more strange and twisted happenings before this story ends — if it ever does. Director Mark Tonderai (the writer-director of 2008’s Hush) won’t cut us or Lawrence’s character much slack here. Opens wide Sept. 21. (PG-13)
