Needtobreathe loves Ohio. In the last two years, the band has played in our state more than half a dozen times. This week’s performance at the Taft will mark Needtobreathe’s third time in Cincinnati in that time span, too. The band headlined here, but also came for King’s Island’s Spirit Song Festival at the beginning of summer.
It’s OK, though. There’s no such thing as too much Needtobreathe.
After forming in 2000, it took only five years of playing before Atlantic Records discovered the boys of Needtobreathe.
Brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart grew up the sons of a preacher and their faith is often evident in their music, though not necessarily blatant. While the band recently had a couple hits on Top 40 radio with songs like “Keep Your Eyes Open” and “Something Beautiful,” they were Contemporary Christian radio’s best-kept secret for quite a while.
The band’s latest album, The Reckoning, was released in 2011 and earned Needtobreathe its best chart positions yet, topping the Christian and Rock charts. It also helped the band find its way onto many a late night talk show stage, most recently doing “Devil’s Been Talkin’” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. And, c’mon — if anyone knows good music, it’s obviously Jimmy Fallon.
If you won’t take Jimmy’s word for it, though, just listen to “Oohs and Ahhs.”

Trust me... if you have the extra cash (and I believe there are a few seats left) snag these tickets. They are truly a good show. A great band with a great sound and a great message. Thanks to the author for putting the word out there!
Congrats Deirdre! The band read this and mentioned your article at the show last night!
I'm so, SO bummed I missed the concert AND hearing them mention me. That's it! I quit my day job!
