The members of Indie Pop trio Lightning Love are no strangers to Cincinnati, performing in town frequently on tours routed out of their home base, Ypsilanti, Mich. The melodically enrapturing three-piece opened for Cincy pals Bad Veins’ album release party this past spring and performed at the MidPoint Indie Summer series on Fountain Square this year, too. Lightning Love returns Wednesday, this time sporting a stellar, just-released full-length, Blonde Album.

Driven by the endearing, magnetic vocals, lyrics and melodies (not to mention prominent keyboard work) of Leah Diehl, Blonde sumptuously dishes out LL’s slanted, catchy but non-pandering brand of piano Pop and should do a lot to garner the group more (much-deserved) national attention. The trio brings the delightful noise to The Comet for a free show with Detroit’s Jamaican Queens. If you’re an LL newbie, it’s a great chance to preview Lightning Love before its next Cincinnati appearance — Sept. 29 at Know Theatre, as part of this year’s MidPoint Music Festival. See, told you they play in Cincy a lot. 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5. The Comet, 4579 Hamilton Ave., Northside. cometbar.com.
