Too often, fashion shows are about glitz, glam and stick-thin models prancing down a runway. Those fashion shows kind of suck. Grey Cincinnati, the project brainchild of former University of Cincinnati DAAP professor Henry Navarro, is a Cincinnati-specific fashion event inspired by the city’s history, culture, architecture and people.

Navarro collaborated with a team of DAAP fashion graduates and students to create a clothing collection that represents a “futuristic vision of Cincinnati, harnessing the energies of its full ethnic spectrum.” He chose the color grey to blend Cincinnati’s African-American and white communities, which he hopes will empower demographics across the ethnic array to bond in hopes of harnessing the city’s creative potential. Typical fashion show? We think not. 9 p.m. Prairie Gallery. 4035 Hamilton Ave., Northside. facebook.com/greycincinnati.
