Born in Lake Charles, La., Lucinda Williams has the keen ability to craft Southern tinged Country songs that attract both AltRock and Country fans. In her 30-year career she’s become known as a deft lyricist, which is appropriate because her father, Miller Williams, was a well-known poet. Most recently, in 2011, she released the album Blessed, which reflected upon her growth as a musician.

Lucinda Williams is decorated as a three-time Grammy winner and a Lifetime Achievement Award winner courtesy of the Americana Music Association.

She has released 10 studio albums, which is a feat in itself, but somehow she always has something new to say, something new to express. Lucinda’s voice sums up her music perfectly. It’s a little rough around the edges but beautiful and expressive.

As a child, Lucinda Williams moved around a lot, but in 1974 she relocated to Austin, Tex. She was a practicing Folk musician but perhaps it was the Austin atmosphere she needed to emerge into what she is today — a strong, versatile Country/Americana/Rock musician/songwriter. Because of her well-versed ability as a musician, no one knew how to market her at first and she struggled to become known until the late ’80s/early ’90s. But now she has the recognition she deserves.

LUCINDA WILLIAMS performs Wednesday, July 25 at Madison Theater. Buy tickets, check out performance times and get venue details here.
