Developers Break Ground on Mercer Commons in OTR

By Hannah McCartney · June 27th, 2012 · City Desk
The $54 million residential and commercial development project Mercer Commons broke ground in Over-the-Rhine June 26, paving way for 126 apartments, 28 condos, 17,600 square feet of commercial space, a 340-space parking garage and a 19-space surface parking lot.

Stakeholders and city officials attended a morning groundbreaking ceremony, which marked the beginning of the first phase of three in the redevelopment project, which is expected to take around 16 months to complete, according to Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC).

The project affects 2.67 acres of land in Over-the-Rhine between East 13th and 14th streets, bounded on the west by Vine Street and on the east by Walnut Street.

Nineteen historic buildings and 26 vacant parcels of land will be affected by the construction.

Thirty of the 126 apartments will be in a price range affordable to those making 50 to 60 percent of area median income, according to 3CDC.
