Writer Christopher Coake will be reading from his first novel, “You Came Back,” at Joseph-Beth Booksellers. Coake teaches creative writing at the University of Nevada, but his ties to this part of the country run deep. He lived in Columbus for nearly a decade and was born and raised in Indiana. His novel is set in these locations.

Chris also received his master’s degree from Miami University. Early reviews of his novel, a story of a man rebuilding his life after the devastating loss of his young son and subsequently his marriage, indicate he might have to hang up his teaching hat and devote all his time to writing. BookPage says it’s “compelling … a wrenching journey through the human heart. It reads like a suspense novel and will keep you turning the pages longer than is good for you.” 2 p.m. Saturday June 16. Joseph-Beth Booksellers, 2692 Madison Road, Norwood.
