Everyone could use the advice of a trusted uncle, but sometimes you have to settle for a guy like “Uncle” Larry Reeb. The upside, though, is that he’s hilarious. “My style is kind of one-liners like the old guys like Rodney Dangerfield,” he explains, “but I’m more twisted and a little sicker than that. That part comes more from George Carlin. It’s kind of a combination of the two.” With such a joke-heavy set, Reeb has to work hard to keep it fresh. “I always try to keep coming up with stuff,” he says. “That’s the hard part — coming up with new stuff. But that’s also the fun of it — when you get new jokes. There are some guys I know that have been doing the same act for 20 years. I don’t know how. It’s like they’re on automatic pilot. That would drive me insane. Try to come up with some stuff.” The Funny Bone on the Levee. Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13. $15-$17. 859-957-2000. funnyboneonthelevee.com.
