After catching a lot of national attention with its self-titled debut on Dangerbird Records in 2009, one of the best bands to come out of Cincinnati in the past couple of decades, the Indie Pop duo Bad Veins, is finally set to release its sophomore effort. Titled The Mess We’ve Made, the album is set for national release this Tuesday on the Modern Outsider label. But local fans will have a chance to hear the material and get the album early this Saturday as the band presents its album release party in another interesting setting — the new Ballroom at the Taft Theatre (the Bad Veins release party was on Fountain Square).

The band has already been talking about the “poppier” sound of Mess, including in an interview with CityBeat’s Brian Baker (look for the article, “A Fine ‘Mess’,” here.). The 9 p.m. event features special guests Lightning Love and The Guitars (plus between-set DJing by You, You're Awesome). $14, ticketmaster.com. Taft Theatre. 317 E. Fifth St., Downtown. badveins.net.

BAD VEINS performs Saturday, April 21 at Taft Theatre. Buy tickets, check out performance times and get venue details here.
