If you’re a fan of anime, then SugoiCon, Cincinnati’s Premiere Anime Convention at the Drawbridge Hotel and Convention Center, is the place to be Friday through Sunday. Lovers of all things anime will have the opportunity to attend concerts, participate in a costume competition, a rave, karaoke and attend guest panels and workshops. Cosplayers are encouraged, so come dressed as your favorite anime based character. Highlights include guest appearances by well-known voice actors from FUNimation Entertainment and Sentai Filmworks such as Christopher Ayres, the voice of Frieza in Dragon Ball Z Kai and many more. The convention also features Japanese Guest of Honor Shinichi Watanabe, also known as Nabeshin, the director of the fan-based comedy series Excel Saga and Nerima Daikon Brothers and the comedy-drama The Wallflower. Convention visitors will also be able explore the Artists’ Alley where they will find fan illustrators and crafts, a large dealers’ room, video game and collectible card gaming tournaments hosted by the Mount Healthy game store YottaQuest. SugoiCon begins 3 p.m. Friday and ends 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets at the door are $25 for a one-day pass and $45 for the whole weekend.
