Reminisce and rediscover the true art form that is photography. Before the arrival of digital photography, manual photography was, well, manual. You worked with your hands just as any great artist does. You handled and chose the proper camera. You had to decide whether you would shoot in color or black and white, then loaded the correct film format and speed.

You did not just point and click away; you calculated each and every frame and watched as your camera slowly counted down to zero. Then you fumbled around in a dark room and … we’ll save that part for later. So take a trip down memory lane while learning new techniques with CityBeat’s Photo Editor/New Media Director Cameron Knight. He is also the editor of a photo tutorial website, Phototuts+ and has written for Lomography. The workshop runs from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, but hurry, space is limited to the first 40 people.
