(an encore performance takes place at 10 p.m.). Nash has been writing since he was 15, and by the time he was 17 he'd appeared on three albums and toured Europe. After moving to New York City at 18, Nash recorded his first album as a band leader, and he soon began to receive requests for commissions. In recent years, he wrote the first original piece by someone other than Winton Marsalis for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and, last year, he was nominated for a Grammy for his arrangement of "Monet" from his album Portrait in Seven Shades. Nash takes over the Blue Wisp for (closed) rehearsals Friday afternoon (he'll perform a Jazz set that night at the Wisp). Tickets for Saturday's performances are $15 and available through www.cincinnatiarts.org.
