Workdays seem longer in the heat — your temper gets shorter and an ice-cold cocktail is always soothing after a hard day. Laying in bed on a warm summer evening, I'm sure we've all dreamed of being in an exotic place with captivating scenery.
We might not be able to hop on a plane and fly to Brazil or the Mediterranean, but we can bring a little exotic back home. CityBeat's sister publication A-Line takes us on The Great Getaway for a trip around the world Thursday night at Eden Floral Boutique.
While the boutique is transformed into a botanical fantasy, there will be a live Spanish guitar performance from Nick Tuttle, a world dance performance and a preview of the Senate restaurant’s new Mediterranean venture, Abigail Street.
Enjoy globally inspired hors d'oeuvres prepared by seven different restaurants. Once your vacation has been complete, don't forget to grab a copy of A-line's newest (free) issue, "Away at Home." (Check it out online, too.)
A suggested donation of $5 gets you in the door, with all proceeds going to Transitions Global, a nonprofit to help empower sex-trafficking survivors, based in Cincinnati. A-Line represents not only women here in Cincinnati but women facing difficulties, small or big, anywhere in the world.
The Great Getaway will be a magical, mini vacation to help count down the final days of summer. It all happens 6-9 p.m. at 1129 Walnut St., Over-the-Rhine.
