This summer you’ll not be able to say, “There’s nothing going on,” without adding “except for those daily music events on Fountain Square.” Free concerts to satiate almost every taste in music take place all summer long at the city’s center, showcasing local, regional and national talent from the worlds of Reggae, Hip Hop, Blues, Southern Rock, Country, Hip Hop, Jazz, Indie, Latin music and beyond
. Mondays, it’s the “Fountain Square Lounge” with Jazz group the Chris Comer Trio and guests; Tuesdays’ “Southern Sounds” features Blues, Country and other forms of American Roots music; Wednesdays are for Reggae; Thursdays you can catch acoustic acts at lunch, then Salsa music in the evening; Friday is the ever-popular MidPoint Indie Summer concerts, with an array of Indie bands; and Saturday is the Square’s newest music night, Saturday Slam, featuring spoken word, DJs and Hip Hop artists, including an appearance by Talib Kweli July 30. Sundays are music-free, but you’ll be in church anyway, right? Music starts at 7 p.m. for most of the shows in the Square’s PNC Summer Music Series 2011.
