Events: Mainstrasse Village Original Goettafest

By Michela Tindera · June 14th, 2011 · CityBeat Recommends

Back in the 19th century when goetta was first brought to Cincinnati by German immigrants, it was eaten as a breakfast patty served with ketchup, syrup or honey. Since then, goetta has become a celebrated novelty gobbled up by Nati natives by the ton at ballparks and festivals throughout the region each summer. Now you can try out not only the original but also goetta pizza, goetta burgers, goetta chili, goetta Ruebens and goetta omelets.

And if goetta's not your in your gamut of gastric pleasures, there will be other festival foods and drinks for sale. There will also be games, rides, arts, crafts and music to celebrate the infamous meat and oats mixture. Your goetta gluttony kicks off at MainStrasse Village in Covington 5-11:30 p.m. Friday and continues noon-11:30 p.m. Saturday and noon-9 p.m. Sunday. Free parking is available in the IRS parking lot at Johnson and Fourth streets.
