Along with various readings, musical performances and art exhibitions, the Over-the-Rhine alternative space CS13’s programming is at its most interesting when they engage social practices with community projects. This Saturday kicks off several weeks of COURSES: An Inquiry into Place, Publics and Food, a series of lectures, reading discussions and cooking demonstrations in a fully functioning kitchen CS13 has constructed inside their exhibition space.
The convergence of food culture and art spaces is rich with art-historical precedent. CS13 seeks to invite specialists to speak informally about their own projects, traditions, experiences and cultures. This Saturday, representatives from the legendary Tucker's restaurant and the organization Cincinnati Cooks will be on hand from 5-8 p.m. Other guest speakers and local activists will present from 5-8 p.m. on June 18, June 25 and July 2. Every Wednesday night from 7-9 p.m. until July 2 will be evenings of shared dinners and discussions. On the next Final Friday, June 24, from 5-8 p.m., Ufuk Adak will speak about and prepare foods from his native Turkey. CS13 is located at 1420 Main Street.
