Art: Summerfair

By Jane Durrell · May 31st, 2011 · CityBeat Recommends

Get out your shorts and, if you're female, find that halter top. . .you'll want to welcome summer at Summerfair's 44th appearance, 2-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Coney Island, 6201 Kellogg Ave. More than 300 selected artists and crafts people from our region and across the country will have their wares on display, along with "regional performers, a variety of gourmet arts, and the Youth Arts Rocks! Area for kids" the organizers promise.

The art runs the gamut with photographs, paintings, ceramics, fibers, leather, jewelry and, for the second year, a 2D/3D mixed media art category. Women may put aside the halter top to wear a favorite little black dress for this year's new addition: Friday night's Little Black Dress event, a fashion show in conjunction with Cincy Chic with Q102's Holly Morgan as MC, 7-9 p.m. at Moonlite Gardens, $15. Entrance to Summerfair alone is $10, including parking, and children under 12 are free.
