Art: Essex Studio Arts Walk

By Steven Rosen · March 2nd, 2011 · CityBeat Recommends

The open-house Art Walksinside the vastEssex Studios (2511 Essex Ave., Walnut Hills) are always popular events. Not only do the artists who maintainstudios in the old factory open their doors to the public but there's also a museum that can be toured — the American Sign Museum. The first ArtWalk of 2011 occurs this Friday and Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m.

each night. In addition to the artists (including sculptors, glass blowers and abstract painters) and the unusual museum, live entertainment will be provided by Cincinnati Circus, which will offer jugglers and carnival games. It’s also a chance to see sculptor Tom Tsuchiya’s scale model for the new 50-feet-tall Jesus statue that will replace the much-derided-as-kitsch and destroyed-by-lightning“Touchdown Jesus” at Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio.
