Just in time for Halloween, everyone's favorite nurturers of the written word, InkTank, devotes its fall fundraiser to the theme of Edgar Allen Poe, as creepy and shiver-inducing a writer as has put words to page. The event, which takes over Northside Tavern (4163 Hamilton Ave.) 5 p.m.-midnight Wednesday, features “inspirational speakers, readings from InkTank writers, a silent auction of exciting local art and a community collaborative 'exquisite corpse' poem composed on an ancient typewriter that may or may not have belonged of the cousin of the great great grandson of the butler who tended the raving Poe upon his deathbed."

That intriguing description will be followed by a DJ set from the crafty kids of ProjectMill, who are dubbing the night's wrap-up as the “Plutonium Shore Dance Party.” For those still in the dark about InkTank and its mission, listen up: The Over-the-Rhine-based organization celebrates the merits of writing and literacy by nurturing area writers of every stripe and skill level, including the homeless and those in recovery, and is supported by myriad people who donate their time and effort to the worthy cause.

Now's you're chance to help their efforts; suggested donation for the night's festivities is $10. Go here for event and venue details.
