Kathy Wilson doesn’t pull punches. She doesn’t waste her time being nice or sugar-coating her opinions. She will tell you exactly how she feels, in all of its curse-laden glory.

Perhaps it's because this writer, University of Cincinnati adjunct professor and former CityBeat columnist has no time to be tactful. But far more likely it’s because her thoughts need to be heard and there are only so many hours in the day.

Luckily, Wilson has found another avenue to share her observations with the public: the stage.

The one-woman play version of her book of columns, both titled Your Negro Tour Guide, will take you on a journey through the mind of someone who’s seen some of the best and a lot of the worst this city has to offer. Via actress Torie Wiggins, Wilson sheds a spotlight on Cincinnati’s shortcomings and no one is safe, Wilson included. She always teaches her students that nothing is sacred in writing and her book upheld this standard. During the 80-minute show, you’ll laugh at all the prejudices you swore you never held.

Your Negro Tour Guide runs at the Ensemble Theatre (1717 Vine St., Over-the-Rhine, 513-421-3555) at 7 p.m. Sunday-Tuesday and continues through Oct. 25. Go here for showtimes, tickets and venue details.
