It’s hot, humid and there is a question lingering in the musty air that you might have misconstrued as your aura: How American are you prepared to be this fourth of July? There are always plenty of ways to show that you love your country: one of the local Fourth of July festivities, your family cookout or mourning the loss that the United States Men’s National Team suffered while fighting the good fight against the communists other respectable teams competing in the World Cup.

A real American would do all three and be sure to check out the Northside Fourth of July Parade, Carnival and Festival which features some of America’s greatest pastimes: beer, food, sword swallowing and Rock & Roll.

The party starts at 6 p.m. in Hoffner Park on Hamilton Ave. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Carnival will feature local acts You, You’re Awesome, The Long Gones and The Kiss Me Everlasting. You can also check out the Northside Fourth of July Parade on Saturday which will run between 4101 and 4781 Hamilton Ave. starting at noon. This year’s grand marshals Darren and Jim Blase will have more than 30 parade entries in tow. A portion of the proceeds from the parade will go to the Mill Creek Restoration Project of Northside.

Go here to find details about the festival.
