Spring is here, and that means it’s time for the Tristate’s first major summer festival, the 31st annual MainStrasse Village Maifest. Based on the German tradition of welcoming the first spring wines, Maifest offers arts and crafts, rides, German and internationally inspired food and beverages and live entertainment from bands like DV8, 4th Day Echo, Stays in Vegas and Ricky Nye & the Paris Blues Band.
Festivities will take place 5-11:30 p.m. Friday, noon-11:30 p.m. Saturday and noon-9 p.m. Sunday, filling six blocks from Sixth Street, Main Street and Philadelphia Street though Goebel Park. New this year, Maifest offers guided walking tours showcasing historic MainStrasse, 3D chalk drawings throughout the fest and a Baby Mai contest.
