Six artists help fight off winter doldrums with a show called Essential Oils, and… opening Friday at The Barn, the Woman’s Art Club Cultural Center in Mariemont. Color is key for four Cincinnati-based painters — Donna Talerico, Carolyn Muller, Ron Johnson and Jan Boone — as well as to former area residents Tim Folzenlogen (now in New York City) and Jessie Boone (Savannah, Georgia).
Each uses color generously in these figurative works that could warm a cold day. Folzenlogen’s memories of Cincinnati come out in renditions of the Suspension Bridge, Johnson takes a neo-Dali approach, Talerico’s people are chic and Muller’s landscapes are moody, while Jan Boone and Jessie Boone bring their individual styles to studies of people. The exhibition opens to the public 6–9 p.m. Friday and continues through March 28.
