Downtown -- it's not just for lunch anymore. Burrito Joe's now serves breakfast burritos from 7-10 a.m. The new restaurant fresh offers organic egg sandwiches to go with your coffee, while ingredients has breakfast panini and calzones as well as bagels, cereal and smoothies.

Boys' night out has some competition. The Cincinnati Museum Center is now taking reservations for its Girlfriend Get-Togethers. On Wednesday the event will include an Italian wine tasting and a cooking demo by David Cook from Daveed's at 934.

Speaking of women, a couple of restaurateurs of the female persuasion are preparing for openings. Michelle Lightfoot, former operator/chef of Poppies Deli, is in the planning stages of her new business deli seven20 in the Sawyer Point Building at 720 E. Pete Rose Way. Stay tuned for news on an opening date.

Farther east, Maribelle's Tavern opens at the end of the month.

Café Istanbul just introduced a new menu and a new chef, Cengiz Saraman. The menu incorporates Turkish foods with more familiar fare such as a Mediterranean Ribeye Steak and Vegetable Lasagna. The first annual Octoberfeast, an event sponsored by Greater Cincinnati Originals, an organization of locally owned restaurants, featured dinner bites from members such as Kona Bistro, Pho Paris, Behle Street Café, Universal Grille, One Restaurant & Lounge, mesh and Bella Luna. The event raised $1,000 for 7 Days for SIDS.
