What should I be doing instead of this?

Events: Butler County Fair

By Cameron Knight · July 28th, 2009 · CityBeat Recommends

We all know the term "Original Gangster," but I'm coining a new term: "Original Hipster." Many of those types will be at the Butler County Fair. What do you think the "H" in 4-H stands for? You may wear skinny jeans because you think you’re cool, but these guys wear tight jeans so they don't drag their pants through manure. You bought a bandana because it was colorful and you thought it might be a good way to hide hickeys from your parents.

The hipsters I'm talking about wear them because roping steers gets mighty dusty. If you're looking for an authentic experience, complete with a demolition derby, rodeo, tractor pull and some of the best sweet corn you've ever put in your mouth, head up to Hamilton this week. Support the locavore lifestyle by seeing where our local food comes from in the 4-H barns; your kids can even pet the goats (in fact, they can pet everything). Bring hand sanitizer, your appetite and some Dramamine for the many spinning rides. Through Aug. 1. $6 for adults and a buck for each little wrangler you have with you.
