New Year's Eve: NYE Speakeasy

By Samantha Bohnert · December 23rd, 2008 · CityBeat Recommends

Pull out your vintage party dresses and prepare to raise a glass for a different kind of New Year’s Eve celebration. The Know Theatre will be ringing in the New Year with its third annual event. The Roaring ’20s-inspired party, NYE Speakeasy will have you drinking and dancing all night. And you don’t have to worry about any prohibition laws. Fill your glasses to the brim with martinis, manhattans and other delicious spirits throughout the evening.

Come hungry because there will be plenty of food to enjoy in between all of the roaring good fun. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes because teachers will be on hand to show you how to dance to everything from 1920’s style to Jazz music. There will also be a place for gangsters and gamblers fully equipped with blackjack tables, gangster video games and girls dressed to the nines selling cigarettes. At midnight, two screens will be showing the ball drop at Times Square, so keep the champagne flowing and have your lips puckered. To gain access to the NYE Speakeasy, patrons must give the password at the door, which will be provided upon purchasing a ticket. $12 in advance; $20 at the door.
