Classical music. My father, a classical musician, just passed away, which made me realize even more how listening to Classical music as a child shaped me into the person I am today. It taught me to slow down, a state of mind important to me and my work.
Love. After my husband loaned me my first 35-mm camera in 1989, I turned around and made many of images of him! I'm currently involved with another portfolio of my 3 1/2 year old daughter, and I've created a photograph each day for her as a labor of love.
Japan. The most amazing place I've ever been to, Japan drew me in immediately. The Japanese love of the natural world fascinated and inspired me, beginning my 15-year quest to capture the spirit in the natural world with the camera.
Light. In my first photography classes, I learned that light and texture could express emotion. I now revere light with a passion. I once had the opportunity to travel in France, where I concentrated on light itself for an entire day, a great luxury I'll always remember.
Family, teachers and students. Those people in my life who have shown enthusiasm and joy at having the opportunity to use art as creative expression have truly inspired me in many ways.
