´ There's another benefit at the Southgate House Friday, this one in honor of a young girl who recently passed away from an inoperable brain tumor called DIPG. Local groups performing at "Elenapalooza" Friday include Mack West, The Swarthy Band, Backseat Virtue, Chaselounge, Close to Home, Dead August, Another Tragedy, Comet Bluegrass Allstars, Bluf, patientZero, Reaper and Bastion. ´ Jazz/Funk/Fusion ensemble Souse is celebrating its new CD release, Push, with a 9 p.m. show at Poor Michael's Pub in Fairfield this Friday. The septet does arrangements of compositions by Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Billy Cobham, which gives a good sense of the style of the funky originals on the expertly produced and performed album (look for a review soon).
