Larry Is Odd

In Larry Gross' "Thinking of Patti Deutsch" column (issue of Nov. 14), I enjoyed how he blended those noisy kids outside of his building while thinking about an old game show panelist. Kind of odd but entertaining.

I know of Patti Deutsch because of the Game Show Network. She's the one who always gave the stupid answers. Like Gross' column, kind of odd but entertaining!

Larry Is Tiring
I read Larry Gross' Living Out Loud column all the time and like it most of the time, but I want to make you aware of something: The more columns he writes the more he becomes like the Andy Rooney of CityBeat. This Patty Deutsch story is a good example ("Thinking of Patti Deutsch," issue of Nov. 14).

So much of the time Gross comes across as this old grumpy man who gets out of sorts with the simple things like kids making a little noise outside his window. Sometimes it's funny, but this column was tiring.

No disrespect, but if he turns into Rooney and starts saying "Why is that?" I'm going to come over myself and yell at him through his bedrrom window.

Reclaim Your Thanksgiving
(Re: "Oinker of the Day" post on CityBeat's Porkopolis blog asking how people cope with the family dramas that usually are served up with the turkey and pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.) Three words: Reclaim your holiday!

After much crapola in the family the past year, I decided that I am having my own Thanksgiving at home. Gonna cook for my husband, daughter and daughter's boyfriend. The rest of them can do whatever they wish.

Wild Turkey for Turkey Day
(Re: "Question of the Week" post on CityBeat's Living Out Loud blog asking if people cope will have a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal or think outside the box.) I'll be having Wild Turkey for Thanksgiving, both the bourbon and the kind we hunt in the wonderful woodlands of Ohio.

Slim Pickings
(Re: "Question of the Week" post on CityBeat's Living Out Loud blog asking if people cope will have a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal or think outside the box.) I eat hot dogs every day. Why should Thursday be any different?

Music Bloggers
(Re: "Blog As You Are: Local Hero Starts Blogging for AltWeekly" post on CityBeat's Spill It blog about former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic writing a blog for Seattle Weekly, leading to questions about what Greater Cincinnati musicians would make good bloggers.) I like the idea of the "Vinnie blog" (by Vinnie from LeTechnoPUSS13S).

Bill Wolverton used to do an excellent blog before they were even called that. Jeremy Springer of The Sundresses could stir up a good blog, I imagine. Pat Hennessy has the best stories. Chuck Cleaver, Greg Dulli....
