Kathi Diebels
|
Cincinnati-based artist
KATHI DIEBELS uses a variety of materials in her work. With her mind in overdrive and her recent discovery of the wonders of digital manipulation, Diebels is constantly churning out new and interesting creations. Read on for five things that bolster Diebels' work.
Faces. I love faces. I become engrossed capturing a story through every wrinkle, lift of a brow or subtle curve of the lip, making them people you can connect with, feel you might have known or passed by sometimes unnoticed.
Hope. I feel that we can evolve, change and rise from the tired times we live in and come out better, stronger and kinder than before. I try to take images and creating a sense of hope from the ashes of struggle. Even for discarded images, there are second chances.
Time. Creating a single moment that holds you or brings you in. It stops you dead in your tracks and melts with you, causing you to go from observer to participant in a single moment.
Emotion. I want people to be able to see something in my work that evokes a sense of emotion, regardless of background. I want them to wake up, get mad, cry, laugh, change, think, talk one on one, face to face, argue, form opinions, exercise their minds and awaken their spirit!
Eccentricity. I love adding an element that causes people to rethink or question the meaning of my work. I try to re-create life with skewed rules.
